Congressman Collins Tours Doritex

U.S. Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) recently visited the Doritex Corp. plant in Alden, NY. Operator Jim Doro, the chair of TRSA, and his employees hosted Rep. Collins during their monthly staff luncheon.

Rep. Collins also toured the plant during his March 1 visit. He spoke with employees and learned about the textile services industry and its impact on the local and national economies. Chairman Doro, who also is president/CEO of Doritex, expressed the industry’s concerns over the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) enforcement actions regarding Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). “The EPA is taking a stance on potential to emit (PTE) that does not reflect the industry’s product mix or processing systems,” said Doro. “All the industry is asking is that the EPA take into account the real-world applications of the industry’s systems.”

Rep. Collins agreed and committed to help TRSA in any way possible, including legislative language.

Doro added that, “TRSA is the only textile services organization representing the industry to policy makers, and these tours are an indication of the increasing reach the organization is gaining.”
